Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs... Ephesians 5.19
The charity Playlist for Life, which author and broadcaster Sally Magnusson founded to support dementia sufferers, turns 10 this year. The initiative is based on evidence that music stimulates parts of the brain which degenerative mental disease blocks to other thought processes. Gathering the tunes which have orchestrated a person's life reopens access to a world of memory that would otherwise be lost.
For most, if not all, of us music operates most powerfully and in the profoundest recesses of our personality. It expresses who we are and what motivates us. Music is the medium through which we process the highs and lows of life: our greatest joys, our most painful griefs. Music plays a key role in Christian belief. Through psalms, hymns and spiritual songs we sing our faith - to God and to each other and to anyone who happens to be listening!.
Which pieces of music are most expressive of your life experience and personal convictions?
