Not so quiet reassurance

"The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3.17
Zephaniah concludes his message with a touching image: God, as mighty warrior, singing over his cherished people - a lullaby or something more rumbustious? Whichever, the picture corrects misplaced impressions of God as vindictive tyrant. In fact his anger is concentrated on that which harms his creatures and his creation, which he loves. Clarifying our recognition of who God is and his true nature is fundamental to placing our trust in him - and encouraging others to do the same...
