Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. 1 Timothy 3.1

Today we are thrilled to welcome two new elders onto the team! To be precise, we are welcoming back one and ordaining the other. But the outcome is the same: two new leaders, ready to apply their gifts, wisdom and experience to serving Christ and his church.

The defining characteristic of Christian leadership is that it takes its cue from Jesus, who teaches that we must be different from other leaders. Christian leaders are not to wield authority for their own privilege or prestige but in order to serve. That goes against the grain and so they need and deserve our prayers.

May the Lord bless, equip, guide and protect Jane and Peter and all those called into leadership through the Church.
