For to us a child is born, to us a son is given... Isaiah 9.6
It matters little that we don't know the precise day and month of Jesus' birth because we do know quite a lot about the circumstances of his birth and when it occurred, give or take a year or three. Of greatest significance is that he was born at all, that God entered creation in this way and that he survived!
The rest, as they say, is history - but not to be taken for granted, because it affects us all. Jesus' birth, life, death and resurrection amount to the pivot point in the story of the world. They secured our redemption and laid the foundation for the renewal of all creation.
So Happy Christmas! To be continued on New Year's Day...
